1.2 Billion People Living in Extreme Poverty: UN Sets Goal to End Poverty by 2030

United nations estimates that over 1.2 billion people are living in extreme poverty. the world bank defines extreme poverty as living on less than $1.90 a day, and the majority of people living in extreme poverty are concentrated in south asia and sub-saharan africa. in sub-saharan africa, the poverty rate is estimated to be 40.2%, while in south asia the poverty rate is estimated to be 15.7%. the united nations has set a goal of ending extreme poverty by 2030.
