Former President Ian Khama Wanted by Botswana Court for Possession of Illegal Firearms

Court in botswana has issued an arrest warrant for former president ian khama in connection with the possession of five illegal firearms. mr khama, the son of botswana’s first president seretse khama, left office in 2018 after two five-year terms and is currently facing 14 charges including allegations of money laundering and handling stolen property. he has denied at the time that he was fleeing or seeking asylum after he fell out with his successor president mokgweetsi masisi.

Warrant was issued on the same day that mr khama left the country last year and has been residing in neighbouring south africa. he has not publicly commented on the arrest warrant. mr khama has previously accused mr masisi of conducting a witch hunt against him.

Khama is facing charges for the possession of five illegal firearms, which is the basis for the arrest warrant. it is unclear why mr khama possessed the firearms, but it is believed that the charges are related to his dispute with president masisi. mr khama has accused his successor of conducting a witch hunt against him and has not publicly commented on the arrest warrant issued against him.
