Serbian Army on High Alert as Kosovo Prepares for Alleged Attack on Ethnic Serb Areas

Serbian army is at its “highest level of combat readiness” and president aleksandar vucic has declared he will “take all measures to protect our people and preserve serbia”. there are media claims that pristina is preparing “an attack” on ethnic serb areas in north kosovo, and the government in pristina has accused mr vucic of playing “games” to stir up trouble. the european union is calling for “maximum restraint and immediate action” and for the leaders of serbia and kosovo to “personally contribute to a political solution”.

Events have been unfolding since the 1998-99 war in which kosovo broke away from serbia, and the current situation has led to nato calling on all parties to avoid provocations. the eu has warned it will not tolerate attacks on eu police or criminal acts.
