US Accuses North Korea of Supplying Weapons to Putin’s Chef-Owned Mercenary Group Wagner

United states has accused north korea of supplying battlefield missiles and rockets to the russian mercenary group wagner for use in ukraine. the white house said the shipment violated un security council resolutions and that it would announce further sanctions on wagner. the uk agrees with the us assessment and north korea denies the reports.

Events are believed to have taken place in 2014 when wagner first went into action during russia’s annexation of crimea. since then, wagner’s influence and presence has drastically strengthened as russia’s invasion of ukraine has suffered multiple setbacks. wagner has been active recently in syria and african countries, and has repeatedly been accused of war crimes and human rights abuses.

Is believed that wagner paid for the equipment from north korea and took delivery of infantry rockets and missiles. russia is turning to north korea for help due to its desperation and isolation. wagner has ballooned from 1,000 to nearly 20,000 fighters in ukraine and is spending more than $100 million (â£82 million) each month in ukraine. wagner rivals the russian military in power and is recruiting convicts in russian prisons and offering them paid and commuted sentences after six months on the front line.
